How Powerful is Twitter? [On Becoming a Domestic and Laboratory Goddess]
2020 Science has a cool post up right now on the potential influence of Twitter. How big a network do people using Twitter have the ability to influence?

Figure 1: From 2020 Science, the Top Science Tweeps. Dr. Isis is indicated with the red arrow. Although a fairly new Twitter user, I still have fairly decent influence with 200 primary and 67,500 secondary Tweeps. That’s viral, baby! Dr. Isis frequently tweets stories that she does not blog about.
Of the Top Science Tweeps, only three of them are a university/graduate program/academic society. The fact is, if you’re a program/society trying to reach a lot of people to spread a message and are avoiding Twitter because of some pre-conceived notion about how it works or what it means, you’re a sucker. But you can send all your potential tweeps my way because I loves them!
